Lower carbon footprint of our columns for 2021

ROSA Group has calculated the carbon footprint for aluminum columns manufactured in 2021. The obtained data was compared with the carbon footprint of the steel columns' production of corresponding lengths. To determine the emissions generated during the production of steel columns, emission factors from the Ecoinvent 3.6 database were adopted.

The calculated carbon footprint covers the emissions from the extraction of raw materials to the production of the columns, their transport and disposal. The test results show, that during the production of one anodized aluminum column, about 37.7% less CO2 is generated, than in the production of a galvanized steel column.

Comparing the carbon footprint with 2020, the average value of the carbon footprint for 2021 decreased by 6.17% (the average result for columns with a length of 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 m is approximately 129.82 kg eCO2 in 2021 and 138.36 kg eCO2 in 2020).

What contributed to the lower carbon footprint of ROSA columns?

- By selecting suppliers of aluminum tubes with a reduced carbon footprint we improved the result of our own production;

- We chose European suppliers of metal sheets for the base of aluminum columns, which significantly shortened the supply chain of this material;

- We have increased the production of our own electricity in comparison to 2020.

ROSA Group's efforts to reduce the production's carbon footprint have a measurable effect. Through the actions of the Company, we can provide information that our products are becoming more and more environmentally friendly every year.

The survey was carried out by employees of the ROSA Group in accordance with the methodology developed by Bureau Veritas Polska for the previous carbon footprint settlement period - consistent with The GHG Protocol Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard.
