Colour temperature, what is it?
Before deciding on the colour of light for outdoor lighting, it is crucial to understand what colour temperature is and how it is defined. The colour temperature of light is measured in Kelvin degrees (K). It is a measure of the perceptual warmth or coolness emitted by light sources, allowing the colour to be determined on a scale from warm (lower Kelvin values) to cold (higher Kelvin values).
One way to visualize the differences between the light colours is to compare it with a chart:

On this basis, three groups of light colours can be distinguished, taking into account that these values are approximate:

Light colour and lighting location
Understanding the colour temperature of light is crucial when designing lighting for new developments. It allows you to consciously choose between warmer light and more neutral light. This affects the atmosphere that light creates in the environment, as well as issues such as work efficiency. It is assumed that the so-called warm light promotes relaxation and creates a pleasant mood, while light with a neutral colour can stimulate the brain to be more active and focus better.
