ROSA LED products are equipped with high performance diodes to achieve a light efficiency up to 136 lm/W for the luminaire.

What is colour temperature?

Apart from the most popular light parameter, which is intensity, there is another very important characteristic of light - colour. The colour (warm, cold, neutral) gives the mood (another to work, another to rest), creates an atmosphere.

The colour temperature expressed in Kelvin [K] of a given luminiare (light source) meant a value equal to the temperature of a perfectly black body, emitting light of the closest colour to the light of the compared luminaire. Depending on the colour of the light, its source emits a different amount of heat. It is measured according to Kelvin's (K) thermometric scale.

In practice, the correlated value of this parameter (CCT) is used to describe the colour of light sources.

Basic known colours of light can be compared with atmospheric phenomena. A specific list was created in this way, allowing for comparison of the colours of natural phenomena created by human:

  • 2000 K – candle light colour
  • 2800 K – very warm white colour (bulb)
  • 3000 K – sunrise and sunset
  • 3200 K – colour of incandescent lamp studio lamps
  • 3300 K - 4000K - neutral white
  • 4000 K – white
  • 5000 K – cool white colour
  • 6500 K – daytime colour - cold
  • 10000-15000 K – the colour of pure blue sky
  • 28000-30000 K – lightning

Design of outdoor lighting

The main reference in the design of outdoor lighting is white, natural, daylight. What's important, the white LED light in night road lighting provides much better visibility than the yellow light that is used in high-intensity discharge light sources. Makes the environment seen as more natural, which increases the road user's sense of security.

ROSA LED luminaires offer three variants of colour temperature as standard: 3500 K, 4000 K or 5000 K. The warm colour of 3500 K is preferred for lighting urban spaces and parks. On the other hand, the white colour of 5000 K, due to its higher luminous efficiency, is used in street lighting. The choice of options depends on the requirements of the customer.

At customer request, ROSA realizes luminaires with different colour temperatures (2700-5000 K).

What is colour rendering index (CRI)?

This parameter determines how well the colours of the illuminated objects are perceived. The higher the colours are, the better they look and the more natural the objects look. The maximum value of 100, which reproduces the colours illuminated by sunlight, is assumed.

What is the gamut area index (GAI)?

This is the ratio of the area defined on the colour space by the chromatic coordinates of the specified light source, to the area of the black body with the same colour temperature (GAI equal 100).

The higher the GAI, the colours under the given light source are more saturated, while the colours reflected by the GAI source higher than 100 gain saturation.

Optic, quiet hero of the LED revolution

Optic in luminaires equipped with LED light sources is a component that is little or rarely talked about, but it is just as important as the LEDs themselves.

Lenses in combination with high power diodes allow achieve high light distribution and efficiency for optical systems of discharge sources.

The combination of high-efficiency light sources - LEDs with precision optics - lenses, allows to meet the required lighting classes at lower power consumption compared to discharge sources.

ROSA lens systems are made of high-temperature-resistant polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). PMMA is a UV-resistant material, so that lens systems are not degraded during use.

In interchangeable modules  used by company ROSA in street luminaires (eg. Cuddle, Ursa), lighting sets (eg. Cut, Stick) and in luminaire OW LED is possible to use four optics with asymmetric light distribution:

T2, T3, ME, DW

These optics are used for lighting classes M (formerly ME) and C (formerly CE), depending on the road layout and arrangement of the luminaires, for example:

-T2 optic are best to illuminate narrower roads with  two lanes, as well as in the installation of luminaires on the center lane which separating the roadway into a two-lane configuration;

- ME optic for wider roads - illuminate even three lanes with sidewalks on both sides of the road with luminaires only on the one side of the road.

Park luminaires

In park luminaires of ROSA company we used many different solutions of optical systems:

- in classic luminaires (ATLANTIS LED, OS-11 LED, ELBA LED) were used diffusers made of high-temperature-resistant polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). This material provides a low glare lighting and classic look of the luminaire.

- in modern luminaires (MIRA LED, MIZAR LED, DROP LED) were used lens systems in different configurations: symmetrical and asymmetrical. Thanks to dedicated lenses for LED modules modern luminaires are characterized by high uniformity of illumination.

Optics dedicated for P-type lighting (formerly S)

This is a lighting class for roads intended for pedestrians and cyclists or for internal roads - used in the variant of ISKRA LED luminaire with SP optic.

Extremely wide beam of light in this optics allows for spacing between columns up to 40 meters when mounting ISKRA LED 24W for 5m (class P4).

Optic OW 'VS'

This is an additional variant of optics used with the replaceable LED module in the OW LED luminaire. It has a wide, symmetrical light distribution in the form of a square, which provides very high uniformity of illumination intensity.

Application:

- Illumination of parks and squares

- lighting hanged in the middle of the roadway

Optics for pedestrian crossings (ISKRA LED P)

- designed in addition to European guidelines for lighting of pedestrian crossings;

- providing low glare and high illumination of the entire pedestrian crossings;

- designed for right and left hand traffic.

Important! Optics for left-hand traffic is fine when illuminating the configuration of crossings with the

island.

DAMA LED optics

Used in park bollards, which are equipped in lens with very wide light distribution, covered with a transparent or frosted diffuser, they allow to illuminate large areas at low bollard. Thanks to the installation of a light source at the height of 0,8 m, the glare effect of pedestrians is practically absent.

ARTEMIS 'HB' optics

This is an additional variant of the optics with replaceable LED module in the ARTEMIS LED luminaire, with symmetrical light distribution, light angle of 60 degrees. Luminaires with this optics are used in outdoor lighting as floodlights or for illumination of industrial halls.

Optics for industrial luminaires (ISKRA LB and HB)

Available in three variants:

HB – distributed light symmetrical with a lighting angle of 60*- for lighting industrial halls or high storage warehouses - 10-14m;

HB-O - light distribution asymmetrical, oval with a lighting angle of 40x120o - to illuminate corridors or space between warehouse shelves;

HB-WWW - distributed symmetrical light with a lighting angle of 100* - for illumination of industrial halls or warehouses 6-8m.

Removable LED modules

The removable LED module contains 12 LEDs XP-G3 or XT-E. Available with five unique optical circuits. The LED module with its connectors is waterproof (IP66), has a thermal protection sensor and high resistance to electrical discharge.

Assembly and disassembly of the module only requires basic tools.

Supertension protection

Outdoor lighting with LED technology is subjected to overvoltages caused by electrical network malfunction or due to atmospheric phenomena such as lightning. All ROSA LED luminaires are equipped with 10 kV surge arrester, which lowers the overvoltage to the safe level of the electronics used in the LED luminaires. This protection significantly increases the resistance of the luminaires to electrical discharges (up to 15 pulses at 10 kV). In addition, in the case of more pulses or higher energy pulse - it is destroyed by cutting off the luminaire from the mains.

Luminaire construction

ROSA LED luminaires and ROSA LED lighting fixtures are made of high quality aluminum alloy profiles and anodised. They are characterized by high thermal properties (thermal conductivity> 200W / mK). The anodising application protects the aluminum luminaires bodies against corrosion and aggressive external influences, such as acid rain, seawater, UV radiation, and salt. At the same time gives aluminum decorative character. Anodic coating, in addition to aesthetic qualities, improves the heat transfer from the body through radiation, and maintaining the low temperature of the diodes substantially affects their durability.

Power Supply

The ROSA LED luminaires are equipped with high performance, fixed current and programmable power supplies of the recognized Philips Xitanium and Osram 4DIM series. They offer reliability and high flexibility due to the large number of programmable options.

Available functions:

- possibility of adjusting the output current;

- DALI or 1-10V interface (OPTION);

- programmable time profiles;

- temperature control;

- power regulation of the luminaire with output voltage;

- maintaining constant light output over time;

- power reduction by connecting additional phase (optional).

What is important, thanks to the housing with quick couplings, replacement of the power supply requires only basic tools.

Temperature control of the LED modules allows the power to be lowered when a temperature higher than the programmed temperature is detected, protects the diodes from overheating and consequently wears out more quickly.

Programmable time profiles guarantee an increase in LED lighting savings (they reduce the power consumption of luminaires, which translates into economic savings). There is a choice of up to five power levels ranging from 10 to 100% of rated power at any given luminaires. The power supply unit realizes the developed time profile - variable level of luminaires in a daily frame according to the needs of the investor.

External control system

ROSA LED luminaires are equipped with a DALI or 1-10V * interface, which allows connection of luminaires to autonomous controllers or whole control systems that limit energy consumption.

Proper control of the luminaire's power depending on eg the traffic on the selected road segment provides additional savings of 40-70%. The ability to include luminaires for specific groups (eg group of pedestrian crossings or group of major city streets) facilitates simultaneous control of classified luminaires.

In addition, the control system enables reporting of faults (eg, when the luminaire stops working - signals an error) via system, e-mail or sms.
